Interview

Microsoft Azure AI FDE interview guide

Microsoft Azure AI / Foundry FDE-shaped loops test enterprise delivery under identity, governance, and customer workflow constraints — landing GenAI in real Azure estates, not slideware reference architectures alone.

Hyperscaler FDE titles vary. Ask early about coding bar, travel, and whether success is measured as ARR assist or in-account delivery outcomes.

Red flags

  • Ignoring Entra ID / network isolation in a GenAI design
  • No cost or latency budget for model calls
  • Confusing SA reference architecture with FDE delivery ownership
  • Cannot define a thin vertical slice inside an existing Azure estate

Practice scenarios

  1. Customer wants ChatGPT over SharePoint + SQL in a locked-down VNet — what ships in 30 days?
  2. A Foundry RAG demo leaks cross-team documents — how do you diagnose and gate rollout?
  3. Finance wants ROI before expanding seats — which golden scenarios and cost ceilings do you lock?

Pair with Enterprise RAG, AWS FDE guide, and FDE vs Solutions Architect.

7-day prep plan

  1. Day 1–2 — Azure identity / networking constraint refresh
  2. Day 3 — RAG diagnosis + eval gates
  3. Day 4 — Full customer case with thin slice
  4. Day 5 — Cost / latency budgeting drill
  5. Day 6 — Behavioral: SA vs FDE ownership stories
  6. Day 7 — Mock loop; score on the rubric

Comp context

Directional TC discussions often land around $180K–$360K. Details: Microsoft FDE salary hub. Peer hyperscaler: AWS, Google Cloud.
